What kind of different sheepskin seat covers do you have?
Our sheepskin seat covers come from New Zealand, Tibet and Iceland and are as different as their countries of origin. New Zealand sheepskin is the exquisite Merino type which has dense, strong and shiny wool. The wool is naturally curly but comes straitened in the long-wool version. In the short-wool version, the tiny curls are left as they are naturally. Tibetan Sheepskin has longer wool with fine, charming curls. Even longer is Icelandic sheepskin which is naturally straight. There is also a short-wool version of the Icelandic sheepskin. Tibetan sheepskin is rather light and thin while Icelandic sheepskin especially with long wool is heavier.
The great variation of looks differs between natural and dyed colors. Sheepskin from New Zealand and Tibet is naturally always white. However, it can be dyed easily so additional to the natural white variant, there are sheepskins in all kinds of colors, both classic and trendy. There are up to 25 color options of the sheepskins. Icelandic sheepskins vary naturally between shades of grey, white, black, brown or spotted. Our sheepskins from Iceland are thus never dyed but come always in their natural play of colors.
Do the seat covers vary in size and shape?
The sheepskin seat covers are designed in sizes and shapes that are both practical to use and attractive for the eye. Some of them are thus round and others square, so they fit on different kinds of chairs. They sizes vary to some extend but all are composed for the general sizes of chairs so you do not have to worry about them being too big or too small.
Do the seat covers need special care?
The care we suggest for the sheepskin seat covers depends on the kind of sheepskin and its texture. The version with the shortest wool, the one from New Zealand, needs the least care. It can just be shaken out regularly. Seat covers with long-wool sheepskin from New Zealand and all sheepskin from Iceland we suggest - on top of shaking it out - to brush from time to time. The Tibetan sheepskin should not be brushed since the curls would vanish from that treatment. A good trick in case they vanish anyway is to grab the wool with wet hands and to build a fist. That is an easy way to recreate the curls. Just do not forget to shake out the water afterwards.
Can I use the sheepskin seat covers outside?
Sheepskin is a natural product and thus it can without any issues be used in the nature. You should only take care that dyed seat covers are not put in the direct sunlight since this affects its color. Also, the bottom part made out of leather should never get wet because that would destroy the material. If these circumstances are given and you find a dry spot in the shadow the fresh air is actually good for the sheepskin that literally can breathe. Just shake it thoroughly out before you take it inside again to get rid of dirt or dry leaves.
Do you have more seat covers?
We also have seat covers made out of other materials then sheepskin. For customers who prefer seat covers without wool, we offer two kinds: Seat covers with premium calf leather and Brazilian cow hide seat covers. Both have a clearly different texture and feel to the sheepskin seat covers but are from a very high quality and serve those who like the silky and shiny surface.
What about the aspect of sustainability?
Being part of the global fur industry, we see ourselves in a responsible position to promote fur production that does not do harm to our earth. In a globalized world, production chains are very complex and therefor there are many aspects where consciousness about sustainability can have an impact. We take care of those aspects from the sheep farm to the sewer who is sewing together the seat covers out of leftovers in the very best way so they still look like they are made out of one piece. We are striving to find more and better ways and smart solutions so you can enjoy every NATURES Collection fur product with a good conscious.
