This unique Icelandic sheepskin is very soft and warm, and it fits perfectly in the armchair or on the couch. The Icelandic sheep lives in the rough nature and the long fur is typically 15 cm long and protects the skin from humidity while the inner, shorter fur keeps the sheep warm. The skin fits in to any interior and gives your home a natural Nordic look. The sheepskin is the perfect tool to give extra warmth in your living room and you can be sure that no one has a sheepskin like yours. When you buy this skin, you should know that the skins in the pictures are just examples and not the exact skin that will be delivered to you. The skins are all unique in their colouring. The Icelandic sheepskin is a natural product and the wools texture is adapted to the Icelandic climate. That is why this skin is unique and of very high quality.
Our sheepskins from Iceland are natural, which means they has not been dyed. The wool measures about 15 cm (6 inches) in length and is naturally straight. With the coat being thick and the wool being quite long, the rug looks rugged and beautifully nordic.
In the beginning some of the loose hairs will fall out - this should not be reason for concern though, as some brushing and shaking can remove the loose hairs and the shedding stops. Having been packed for a few days also means that the product has a slight smell in the beginning. This will let off after it has been in use for a bit.
Due to the large size - the sheepskin can be used on nearly every chair and armchair. It also makes a great addition to a sofa or a bench.
Because of the natural color, the sheepskin can tolerate direct sunlight. You can use it inside or outside, on the terrace, on a balcony or even in the garden. How about extending a long summer evening outside or making a cold winter night all the cosier - the Icelandic sheepskin rug is incredibly versatile.
The raw Icelandic climate has shaped this sheepskin. The wool is long and the coat is thick, but at the same time the wool is wonderfully soft and comfortable. Icelandic sheep are kept for the local meat production and the sheepskins are a natural byproduct of such. This way, we can ensure that a product that otherwise would have been discarded is reused.
Since each sheep roams the countryside freely and is cared for by experienced farmers, each sheepskin is high in quality. We deeply care for this quality because we know that only a happy animal has nice fur.
Compared to other sheepskin rugs, Icelandic rugs can lose a few more hairs. This is not a problem at all, as it will never lose an amount of hair that would be noticeable.
Be sure to shake the sheepskin regularly and brush it on occasion to avoid matting. If you want, you can also hoover the rug on the lowest setting. Do not wash the product in the washing machine. Instead, remove stains with a damp cloth or brush out dried stains with a sheepskin brush.
