Sheepskin from above with measuring lines for length and width

How we measure

A sheepskin has no straight edges. This is how we measure it.

  1. The length

Measured from top to bottom along the centre of the skin.

  2. The width

Measured across, at the widest point.

  3. A natural product

Every sheepskin is unique, so shape and dimensions vary slightly from skin to skin.

Personal advice
How does the guide find the right size?

We built the furniture in 3D to the dimensions of real furniture and laid each sheepskin on it in its true length and width. For the chairs we recommend the smallest skin in the range that fully covers the seat and backrest to the top. For the sofa and bench we recommend the skin that covers the most without hanging over the ends.

My furniture has different dimensions – what now?

Take a tape measure and follow the shape of the furniture: from the front edge of the seat, across the seat, down into the corner between seat and backrest and up to the top of the backrest. That figure is the minimum length the sheepskin needs to reach all the way up. If you want the skin to hang down behind the backrest, simply add the extra length.

Why are 135 and 180 cm sewn together?

135 cm consists of 1.5 skins and 180 cm of two skins sewn together. That gives the extra length for benches, sofas and as a runner.
